Got ALL-Glass Versatops yesterday and put them on my 55G. They work great just have to cut the plastic strips to cover the back. Got my All-Glass compact flourescents(2 24" fixtures for 55G) today. What I found out is this, the new light fixtures DO NOT FIT

. If I didnt have HOB filters and didnt mind the back plastic strips drying out and breaking after 6 months they might be ok. Went ahead and measured to find the difference in width(even though its more than visible) and found my original fixture is 4 1/4" while the new fixture is 5 1/2" wide. Someone please tell me where design engineers get it in thier heads that something an 1 1/4" wider will fit in the same space. Thier full hoods dont fit these fixtures either, I cannot believe a company would make these parts this way how do they stay in business? Now after I get my refund from drfostersmith for the fixtures I have to find light fixtures that will fit and can give me ~1.5watts per gallon.....sounds easy enough or so I thought last week when I ordered this crap in the first place
