Newbie Question about lighting

Well, I've been looking around for lights, and the prices are KILLING me
So, I was just wondering if I had some regular lights sitting around in my basement (such as these http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/s...archResultView) and I didn't have any live plants, would these be suitable? The only reason I want a light is because I think it brings out the colours better, and this option would be a lot cheaper for me. I know I would need to build a hood so that it would sit properly, but if I had the lights recessed so that there was no way any water could touch it, would this work? Thanks,

Cory

EDIT: Well, as the link seems to be angry, it's just your average flourescent light that you'd normally see on the ceiling.

If you are VERY careful when you build it, then this should work until you can buy a good hood. However, I would not recommend it, screwing around with electric and fishtanks is always scary. If it was me I owuld wait and save some $$$ for the proper hood.

I was planning on buying some fluorescent lights, and then hanging them from the wall, so they'd still be away from the surface of the water, yet light would still reach it so it would look nice. Wouldn't this be a fairly safe way to do it?

What size tank is it? Can we get a picture of the lights you have? Also does it say what color the bulbs are?

Edit: Didn't see you are buying the bulbs. Ignore the bulb question.
