Is VHO or Metal Halide lighting harmful to some fish?

I wanted to if you use Metal Halide or VHO lighting for a reef tank, if there would be some fish that would have problems with this intense light source?

FYI, don't have a tank yet, just gathering information, to best decide what type of tank I would like to pursue.
