I'd like to add some lighting to my little 2 gallon tank. I was thinking of getting one that seems to go with the aquarium kit we have.

They show it above the hood. Does anyone know if the light has any effect thru the acrylic hood? Will this light also create some heat? I'm hoping it does.

I'm sure it would have some effect through an acrylic hood but I'm not aware of the type of tank you have. Could you explain it or provide a link. That light is a halogen light so all it may do is provide light for the tank. If possible I would get a fluorescent bulb but that light should be ok if you just want llight. What might you be keeping in your tank? I'm not sure if it would create much heat, if it's halogen it will create some heat but I do not know to what extent through the acrylic hood, though it would only provide heat while it's on.

I cannot tell if the light would go through that hood, it does not look like it would much if it did and the hood looks rounded so I'm not sure how well the light would stay on the hood. You could go to a petstore by you who has both the items and ask it it's ok with the store if you take them out of the box and see if it works, I'm sure if you tell them why you want to try it they would let you as long as you bought it there. If your buying online I don't know since I'm not that familar with that type of tank.
