CFL Bulbs??

I'm looking to get a CFL fixture, so that I can start a low light planted tank.
One thing I'm not clear on, is the different pin types; straight pin, square pin, four pin.
What's the differences

No difference, really -- it's just how they're made, and which one is used in the hood you're looking to get. Usually the description of the hood says what kind of bulb it uses (like the All-Glass ones use square pin bulbs).

Thanks Joe. I researched bulbs and their color qualities and found that GE was about the best for more available reds, This is a straight pin bulb, so I ordered PCF sockets and balast to support straight pin design. I'm doing a DIY canopy and lighting. Should be fun!

Well here is the finished product. I kept the design very simple because
my lack of woodworking skills and tools.

Total Cost = $21.00 w/tax +/-

DIY Canopy and 55Watt light Kit from www.ahsupply.com
Total Costs $73.18

Sideview of Canopy and Light. There's plenty of room for more Lighting.
I'm still fabricating a pneumatic open/closer for the lid.

After DIY Canopy and PCF Installed.

Before DIY Canopy.

Next on the list is to incorporate some Eco Complete (which I ordered today) and fill it with Low-Light Plants.
