So, I'm in the middle of a toss up right now. I could go for a T6 HO fixture, boasting 108w of bright light for $70 shipped, or 130w of compact fluorescent for the same price.

Its hard finding good information comparing the two, if anyone has any insight. I'm going to make a final decision tonight and order them, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

They are both 48" lights, going on a 55gal planted, with anubias, java fern and moss and hornwort.

I have not heard of T6 lights, do you mean T5? If so I would go with T5 over cp fluorescent. If you really mean T6 then I have no idea since I've never heard of them.

Well, they're supposedly the next generation of T5, but I can't find anything about replacement bulbs, or any suppliers other than eBay for aquarium purposes, so I went with compact fluorescent...I think 130w of CF should do fine for a 55gal low light setup.

Hmm ok, haven't heard of them yet. That's plenty of lighting for a low light setup, you should have no problems.

Ya T6 are not bad, I have 2 30 inch t6 fixtures with 4 20w t6 bulbs on a 29g, it lights it nicely, but I prefer t5's a they are getting more common and the bulbs are cheap. I went t6 on the 29g as you can't get odd sized T5 they go in roughly 1 foot increments, roughly as they are metric and just under a foot per sizing etc.
