Colored Lights for Under Water Use

I was recently to a new pet store in my area and i saw these lights that stick to the side or bottom of you tank and they come in all type of colors. I though how neat! This would be really cool in my tank. The package says that they are water proof and can be submerged my only concern is that they do need to be plugged in and i now that fish are subceptable to electric fields such as those around electric wires. So i was wondering if any one had anything like this and would these lights effect my fish?

I have one and it's no big deal. Adds a cool touch to the aquarium and there's no problem. They have cords to keep anything from happening, as long as you don't like cutting your wires. Go for it, add some color to your tank and have fun

If you use these colored under water lights is it ok to not use the lights in the hood do they give off enough light for the tank ?

No the colored lights don't give off enough light, they are for decoration purpose or moonlights mainly, sorry.
