Spring Clean

I gave my tank a huge overhaul today. And I mean All Day! Alexander and I had a lot of fun this morning catching all the juvenile Mollies from the 60 litre tank and then onto the LFS in exchange for $20 worth of fish food. Alex was impressed by that - he's 11 and always thinking of how to make a dollar!
Then caught approx 30 juvenile mollies from the large tank and have put them into a nusery inside the 60 litre tank, ready for another delivery tomorrow.
This time I bit the bullet and pulled apart some hiding rocks so that I could eventually catch the last female in the big tank, leaving the male sailfin on his own in there.
Have given the plants a huge haircut, rearranged some rocks, done a pws, then noticed quite a few glass shrimps on the back glass, so I know they have been breeding. Unfortunately saw one get eaten by one of our Angels. Hope I haven't removed too much of their cover.
Now debating whether to take the adult Mollies with the juveniles. At least 50 went to the lfs today, with about the same again tomorrow.
Not long ago, I noticed that the tails of my Black Skirt Tetras were quite black after being lighter for quite some time. As I was topping up the tank, I noticed that they had all lost the black in their tails. Wondering if that is a sign of stress with all that was going on today.
The loaches remained totally hidden all day behind the wall of tunnels. They have only shown their faces in the last hour! They new what was going on, and didn't want to be a part of it LoL!

Wow! You have surely been busy Life! Glad to hear that your son likes to get involved with your hobby as well. I have a feeling the Black Skirts will color up after you finish your spring cleaning. (odd to hear since we're going into fall here)

So what has Mrs. Life been doing? Are you making her carry all the buckets? LOL (just teasing you).

We'll be looking forward to your updated photos Nice to see your text as always!

Hi Ken. No buckets! I bring in the garden hose. Mrs Life was trying to help me catch the elusive Silver Molly, but we ended up getting in each others way. In the end, she was giving directions!
BTW, the colour is returning to the Tetras. The pics won't look too different - just a bit less foliage. I am going to try and get a video of the Loaches in the morning. When they came out tonight, they were the most playful I'd seen in awhile. Maybe they liked the changes!

Hello Life.
I'll be looking forward to the video of your Clowns. I'm sure Butterfly will be anxious as well. She has some beauties too.
You have the entire family involved! yeah!!!!!!!! Glad to hear the Tetras have their coloring back.
Have a good night Life!

I checked on the Tetras this morning and their fin is transparent, with only a hint of black along the outer edges. Am curious as to what causes that. Have taken a video, but it's going to take over 8 hours to upload for about 6 minutes worth! Does it take that long in the USA?
I knew we are way behind, but that is seriously slow!

Hello Life. Maybe your tetras are just being moody? Do they regain their coloring after the lights have been on for a while? A lot of fish will change colors once the lights go off and they get relaxed.
Wow! 8 hours to upload your video? Did it really take that long? (your video was "great" by the way!

Thanks Ken. Had to out for awhile this afternoon. When I returned 2 hours later, the video was uploaded by 6:30pm. I think I started 9:30 this morning! It has been a political football for a few elections now to improve the speed of the internet, but always ends up on the backburners after the election process is over for both sides.
It's 8:30pm now and 3 of the tetras have gone black. I've not noticed how quickly they change - as long as their health is not an issue, I can live with that.
