Are Striped Kuhli Loaches easy to keep??

These fish look awesome, just wondering how easy they are to keep in a community tank. I have a 50gallon that is understocked, how many should I get?

They are easy to keep and are fine for a community tank. They are not schooling fish but I remember reading they do fine in groups. They are also scavengers so they will eat whatever is left in the tank. Don't be surprised if you don't see them during the day, they prefer after lights out. Make sure you have nothing in your tank that may eat other fish as most Kuhli's you find in LFS are pretty small.

Kuhlis are extremely easy to keep. Although they will clean up the bottom they still need to have food of their own and they really like shrimp pellets and blood worms.
They prefer to be in groups and do come out more if there is a group of them. They are not aggressive at all but some larger fish look at them like large worms and treat them as such. Here is some interesting information and really cool pics.

What other fish do you have in the tank?

Thanks for the info. I have a very large Silver Dollar, a silver shark, a bunch of platies and some barbs.
How big do they grow??

Kuhlis get about four inches but have a very low bioload. I'm not sure but the silver shark might think their food

I love my kuhlis - they are the most acive fish in their tank, swimming up and down, back and forth and in circles. While they don't "school", they do preffer to be in groups of at least 4. If you only get a couple, you are likely to never see them. They do not eat snails - at least not MTS, so if you have a snail problem a botia species like zebra or angelicus loaches are a better choice.
