| Sick Kuhli So i went and picked up my loaches at my LFS today. There were four who were just shipped in. One of the loaches died but the other three were okay. I bought the three even though the attendent told me the one loach wasnt looking good. He seems to be breathing quite quickly. I have Him isolated right now. Any chemicals i can give him to save him |

| I would try aquarium salt from API it helps slow down the breathing...And it's a natural fish tonic. |

Good clean, highly oxygenated water, plenty of places to hide/sleep, and good food will work wonders. Thawed frozen blood worms and shrimp pellets are favorites. If he's not feeling well he may not eat but that's ok. they can go several days without eating.
Generally its better to wait until fish has been in teh store at least a week before buying.
Good for you for quarantining the sick kuhli.

Carol | I know the wait was a week but i knew that if i left him there, there would be a chance he would not make it...Besides I has a 7 day warranty on him.

| I have horsefaced loaches, i have had a gold dojo, and now i have Kuhlis. I like the Kuhlis a ton although last night someone "cough cough" thought it would be fun to redecorate the tank
My sick kuhli has stopped breathing hard he just sits there now...if he is disturbed a couple times he will move but thats about it |

I dont have any kuhli's and hopefully members who have them, can help..but posting over and over isnt going to do much but clog up the thread....
do you have a QT tank ? have you done another partial water change today? other than that, I wish I had more advice ...maybe it was his shipping method and he isnt able to recover I hope things get better!!! |

| Sounds like they were handled pretty roughly at the LFS.
Other than water changes I don't know what to do for him

| yeah i guess so...i just gave him a couple blackworms to see if he is interested in eating...hopefully he can hang on...who knows maybe blackworms will cure him
EDIT: well i thought he was gonna die but it looks like he just cant use his back half...and with some time in my 55 it seems that he can manuever himself pretty well. i was going to euthanize him but it appears that he can handle life as a handicapped loach Last edited by xVitox; June 20th, 2009 at 07:23 AM.
