Any salt in a loach tank?

Hi. Do kuhli loaches like any salt in their tanks? Do they hate it? Even a little? Just wanting to know, thanks!

According to loaches.com: http://aquaweb.pair.com/forums/archi....cgi?read=5584

"A little bit of salt" is harmless

Loaches are scaleless fish and do not take well to salt.
The above link is not to loaches.com, and the guy who gave a "yes" answer also keeps kuhlis in a 10g tank, which isn't the greatest for them because they like their swimming space. I would question his loach knowledge.

However, I would wait for Butterfly to come by and verify one answer or the other. She is the closest thing to a loach expert we've got on the forum.

Not as much as your common molly's, swordtail, etc...,,I used it VERY sparingly when I had my loaches,,,one lived 4+years and the other 2 (not sure what made him sick). and yes,,,Butterfly will be able to give a more exact answer. Good Luck

After some further research it seems that sds is correct...While you can add salt, "Generally speaking, loaches can't deal with salt and it ends up being a further stress on them" so it is not reccommended. Source: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=2599

The first link was in the old Loachesonline discussion forum archives with two members having a discussion.
I personally would not put salt in with any of my loaches. They are scaleless or have very tiny scales. Aside from messing with their osmoregulation(how much water they pass or absorb) salt is an irritant and can cause excess slime coat production and this would lead to stress. Now that I'm done rambling R.E you are correct with that last link, In #4 it states NO SALT
