Any ideas on how to catch the little bugger?

I recently bought 12 kuhlis to go into my 125gallon tank. Their time is up for quarantine so am going to stat moving them over later but i cant catch them.

They are usually active most of the time but hide if i come over to the tank.

When they see me they tend to bury them selves in the gravel. Is there a less stressful way of catching them? How can i catch them in the gravel?

I dont have a fish trap but could try and make one if it would work on these slippery little fish.

They are about 2" long at present.

Trapping them is the most likely suggestion. When I bought mine from Petsmart, it took the employee quite a while to catch the three that were in the tank, and the substrate there was just too thick for them to dive into. Their speed alone makes them tough to catch. If they've got substrate they can get under, they must be impossible.

The last time I had to catch Kuhlis I had to drain the tank LOL. There really isn't an easy to catch them sorry.

The only way I can think of is to pull up the gravel with them in the net. That is how I caught all mine. But usually a quarntine tank is a barebottom, so this way it is easier for fish to be caught. lol

Thankyou everyone for your responses.

The tank was a spare tank that didn't have any fish in for 24hours before i bought them. Kinda wish i didn't have gravel in now.

How do i go about making a fish trap, i'm going to try this first before i tear apart the tank?

i changed the substrate in my tank from gravel to sand today.. it drove me nuts because i thought i would end up scooping up my kuhli and sure enough!!! I had all the gravel out, and there was no kuhli loach, so i had to go digging through my bucket full of gravel looking for the little guy..
