happy or lonely kuhli?

Hello to everyone. I'm new at owning a tank, but I've been taking care of a 30g at work. Anyway, The black kuhli there is usually in hiding and we only see him at feeding time. My black kuhli is very active during the day, swimming in circles going bottom to top, over and over. Which one is happy? I've been reading that they prefer to be in groups, maybe I should introduce them? If I do, I would like to get a pair of the striped ones. Where can I find them? Any advice to make these guys happy?

My kuhlis tend to stay hidden except for during feeding time and at about sundown.

kuhlis like to be with other kuhlis.. so he could be lonely. yet kuhlis do hide most of the time. so all in all.. there isnt anything to be truly worried about. could be a combo of both..

I would like to put the two together. Do fish mark territories? Could that be why he is swimming in circles?

When they are swimming all around in circles thats referred to as the "loachie dance". that means he's happy

Oh, the circle swimming is normal. My kuhlis do it when it's about to rain, and sometimes in the evening just for fun. Another member (Butterfly, I think) has videos of her kuhlis doing it. She's the closest thing we have to an expert on kuhlis, I think, and she says its common behavior.

Ok. I don't have to worry now. Thanks for the info. I've been reading a lot of posts and found them helpful in many areas.
