To answer your question you don't need to wait to replace a mate for a krib if one dies.
You should still upgrade the pair or get rid of the other fish fish with them though, if you ask me.

ok i guess they don't mourt there partners...i'll probably get rid of the other fish, but get a male and as soon as the shyness goes away get rid of the others....
