Something Wrong With My Kribs

my kribs, looked to be in full spawn mode, the female was hanging around inside the cave a lot and moving gravel out of the cave. I did a water change and vacummed the gravel and now they seemed to stop. There just swimming around normally, no mating dance...just swimming....the male has seemed to stop chasing the mollies around and dosent seem himself.....do male usually open there mouths a lot, he seems to do that more than i can remember, but still swims normally....did i do something wrong? there goes my chance at fry...

Hi Raptor, When the Kribs are in spawning mode it's best to leave them and the tank alone until the fry are free swimming. Water changes are fine, but I wouldn't gravel vac if I were you. Another possibility is that if this was their first spawn then they may have spawned and then eaten the eggs. It often takes young Cichlids 1 or 2 attempts before they get it right. Don't worry though, they WILL spawn, Kribs are breeding machines, just give them some time

Hello. I've merged these two posts as well to save some space. Don't forget about your "edit" key at the bottom of every post.
Thanks!

he swims normally, but he opens and closes it more that i notice it on the female....he dosent have strong coloring or chasing other fish...may cause he's not in breeding mode anymore....

could it also be that when i did the water change, i used cooler water....he's the only one acting weird though

Hello. I've merged your two posts since there was no response in between. Don't forget that there is an "edit" key at the bottom of every post for corrections, too it can be used for additional thoughts when there are no responses.
Thanks!
Ken
