will a krib hurt my cories?

i am thinking about adding a male krib to my 29 gallon community tank. i have been doing some research and it seems that kribs do well in a community setting as long as they are not breeding. i was just wondering if anyone has had any territory issue with kribs and cories? i have seen that kribs can be territorial with other bottom dwellers. i would feel horrible if something bad happened to my peaceful, defenseless cories because of my poor stocking decisions. the cories are willing to share with everyone in the tank, and i don't want to put them in a bad situation.

as you can tell by my user name i have kribs myself and mine have bred once and and fish even my gourami that went down or close to the bottom of the tank they would get chased and corries would probobly not survive as they are always at the bottom. but i have seen people who have kept both fish and had no problem so its up to you you might be ok since you are getting one but poersonly i wouldn't do it but like i said you may be ok scince you are only getting one.

up to u try it and see you can always bring the krib back if things turn bad

Hi T-ace, I keep 5 Corys and 2 BN Plecs in the same tank as my breeding pair of Kribs and they do fine. The Kribs are a little territorial, espeicially when the have eggs or young, but the other fish soon learn to stay clear of them.

i have a heavily planted tank with several hiding places, so there shouldn't be too much discrepency over territory. i am not planning on breeding kribs, that is why i am just getting a male. i would love to but i just don't have any where for the fry to go once they leave their parents. i talked to someone at the LPS about my situation, and they said it was no problem if i had to return him. i think that i am going to give it a try! now i just have to wait a couple of weeks for him to come in!

By the way, thanks for your responses! i don't know what i would do without fishlore. my questions always get answered here, and i have learned not to trust the advice i get from the lps!

I have a male krib with 4 albino cories and they do fine. I even have a small group of pygmy cories, which he completely ignores, as he does my otto cats. He is a little grouchy from time to time, mostly in the morning, and lunges at everything in his way, including the cories, but he's all bark.

He absolutely hates my platies and danios, but I've never seen him do more than chase them out of the bottom of the tank. In fact, the only truly aggressive act I've seen him commit is gobbling down platy fry, which is what I recruited him to do. Considering my cories are depositing their little white eggs all over the tank for the last two weeks, they must not be too stressed.
