| 6 dead kribs hi all, ive just returned home and found that my temporary tank where i was holding 6 kribs; 2 ablino and 4 normal, as well as 3 corys.
The corys are still alive but all the kribs are dead!
I noticed today before i went to work that the tank had a bacterial bloom but didnt have a chance to test the water. When i returned all the kribs where on the bottom.
Earlier in the day they where all at the top with their heads up.
I have now done a 40% water change and will test tomrrow.
Any ideas why this happened? |

| Shouldve test water BEFORE any changes are made to at least get more accurate reading as water changes may give you different readings.
If memoryserves, Kribs are bottom dwellers so when on top with heads up, maybe giving a hint somethings wrong? Maybe high CO2 in water accumulated overnight? Last edited by cerianthus; March 2nd, 2009 at 06:26 PM.

| if you had a bloom, im going to assume the bacteria from the store DIDNT work and you have an ammonia issue ..but thats just a guess never heard of bacteria in a tub thats a first for me |

| usually i would have done but i wanted to save the corys as i do not have a suitable tanmk to move them to at the moment. yes possibly but i did not have a chance to do anything as i had to go to work.
thats correct they are bottom dwellers so yes it did hint at something wrong, but again i had to go to work |

| How big is your tank?
I think under those circumstances the water change was the best thing to do. |

| 40 Litres isn't big enough for Kribs. A pair needs at least a 20 gal. 6 would need 55 gal imo. |
