Skipper the survivor

OMG, so today I was at one of my friend's house and she has a small pond in which she used to own koi and frogs, until they all died to horrible living conditions and neglect. So today, we were in her backyard and noticed something shimmying around in the pond. We got the net and fished it out and it was a small koi, about 4 inches long. He must've lived off the algae and bugs, but he looks decent. She just re-set up her fish tank (about 70 gallons?) and she's currently about a week or so into cycling. We're gonna pick up some koi sticks later, or what do they prefer to eat? Will he be able to live in that tank for life? What are some requirements?

PS

We called him Skipper

70 gallons should be ok for a while...Koi will eat any plant/vegetable matter in the tank with them. goldfish pellets or koi pellets/sticks would be fine. the main issue with koi is they need to have plenty of oxygen in the water.

A koi at that size can live in the 70 gallons. Plants would do well for it's food. But when it starts growing bigger, you might have to get a bigger tank or put it in a pond. I heard big koi are heavy and take a lot of room and water if in a tank.
