red fringe appearing on fins

Hi
I have a pair of Golden Wonder Killifish. Up to now, the male has been a solid irridescent gold colour, and the female has been beige with a darker stripe running along her side with a slight golden irridescence.
Now, the male has developed a darker red fringe along his tail and dorsal fins - and the female also has a darker fringe as well - just not as obvious. It looks nice, but I haven't read that Killis change colour like that so I'm wondering if it might be the beginning of some kind of fin rot or disease.
Can someone advise me please? Is this just an improvement on colour because they are doing well, or a precursor of killifish illness?

Good morning. I don't have personal experience with this type of fish. It is a possibility that they could change colors at mating time. I'm sure you'll get some more responses. I don't think fin rot would turn red. If it were septicemia you would see red streaks through the fins and not just red tipped. Best of luck. I hope they're going to be ok. Keep us posted.

I'm echo-ing Aquarist here, some speices change colouring mildly during breeding season/mating. Personally, I don't think fin rot would cause the ends to go red, and it doesn't look rott-ish in the photo. I hope that it turns out well, I wish I could find killifish near me!

thanks for the reassurance. I didn't think it looked like anything serious either, but things can sneak up on you and I'd hate to lose those two. They seem to be doing quite well now and are fun to watch.

I have a pair of golden wonders. A couple of months after we got them, the male's fins did the same thing. It has just gotten brighter and more stunning ever since.
