Can killifish be kept in a community tank?

My tank has platys, tetras, 1 gourami, coolie loaches, shrimps and some corys. Can I put a pair of killis in there?

I'd recommend against it. They're not really community fish. I believe it's not even good to have different types of killifish in the same tank.

I don't see why it would be too bad..I have my killi pair in my 55 gal community with no problems but It also depends on what types of Killis you have..even though they are in the same family they often have different temperments.

Mine do just fine since being palced in a larger tank. Saddly they destroyed my hopes for having any shrimp and neon tetras. They will eat anything that fits in their mouths, which are rather large. I'd worry about the loaches and the gouramis though - mine at least are rather curious and would probably go after the loaches and nibble at the gouramis feeler type fins.

Yea.. our little killies smile all the time , but are they ever VORACIOUS!! They'll tear into a piece of cichlid chow with as much force as our angels.

What size is the tank? Cause depending on the size, it might be already overstocked. Plus, what type of gourami do you have in the tank?

I breed guppies and killifish... The guppies and the killifish get a long great in my 29 show tank in my living room!
