that would be a total of 5 cichlids fish in a 55 gal tank, sound ok to me, if & when you put the kenyi in move things around in the tank to distract the others..

The jewell is not compatable with the africans you listed. I would also be concerned putting kenyi in w/ peacock cichilds. On the aggression scale kenyi are one of the highest for mbuna. I have a breeding group in my 55 and they pretty much rule the tank.

For a 55g you can put in 12-15 cichilds.

So was mine - then the malawis turned on him & tore him apart.
I had to take him to my LFS and just give him to them to have.

Well, that was enough of africans for me. I sold my african cichlids last week. Too aggressive & compatibility problems.

A pair of kenyi's will not be enough to spread the aggression, you will need at least 2 more females. My kenyi's as a pair would terrorize everything in the tank during "spawning" time. It was the only time I had any deaths where the female kenyi would kill the other cichilds.
I now have 2 females w/ one male and things are a lot better.
I have had my kenyi's for over a year now, and they are a beautiful species to have, but not a begainner species.
