80 Gallon Planted Tank

After alot of debates about having this tank i have finally set it up.

I have Transfered some gravel, one Melon Sword, one unknown plant, and one piece of Morpani Wood from my 19 gallon to help with the cycle.

Click the image to open in full size.

There are no lights on because all of the power sockets are being used by the 19 gallon.

Anyone have stocking ideas? I have buenos aires tetras, Rosy tetras, Dwarf Neon Rainbows, Guppies, Pearl Gouramis and a Common Pleco. I was thinking of getting a red tail shark and a couple of Bolivian Rams

[edit] no picture here because i deleted it from my album (scroll down for pictures)

How about a shoal of harlequins they look great in large tanks and when they have perfectl iving conditions they are beautiful! .

If you wanted you could always get rid of the pleco because that will take up alot of the bio load.
I would take it to the LFS and get about 2-4 smaller plecos, maybe bristlenose

i was thinking about that but i couldnt stand giving my pleco away, he is my favourite fish

harlequins look interesting but most of my fish have the same body shape as they do and would like same more varietly

Thanks for the help

Update 01/01/2009!!!!

My 2 guppies had a bad start to the new year, i woke up to find one being carried arround, by his tail, by my huge buenos aires Tetra. So i scared the tetra off of him and ran down stairs to get a container big enough to but them both in untill they get their strength back and i find a fish shop that will take him in. i put the container, half full with water into my tank and caught the guppies and put them in with an air pump, gave them some food and went off to My LFS.

I asked someone if they will take my tetra in and they said yes, he will put him with the bigger fish to sort him out . while i was there i bought 2 pieces of mopani wood, which is soaking as we speak. i also purchased a rainbow shark and female bolivian ram (Tweedledee) and a male Bolivian (Tweedledum). Also i brought 2 Java Ferns and a large anacharis

Will post pics as soon as they all settle down

no hes still in there untill i get him some friends. i took him out yesterday and he swam straight to the back corner where no other fish were. so i might get 4-5 more guppies tomorrow and maybe get some more decor and a background

taken the Buenos Aires back today as they were harrassing my new guppies and eating the plants, swaped them for an angel
Click the image to open in full size.
i think he/she is a silver angel but not sure.

its only around 2 inches big so it will have a long time to get used to my guppies before it gets big enough to eat them, so hopefully it wont. (if that makes sence )

I will try to get a pictue of his/her other side as the markings are different.

Been a while since any change has happned so here goes. My mum bought me some mount board that i will paint a blue colour this saturday and use as a background . also on saturday/sunday i will change the substrate to sand because i think it looks nicer and is easier to clean. At the same time i will give the tank a (total) rescape . Stay tuned for pics of the new layout

I dont think you should change your substrate because your tank looks awesome! I love your Angel he's so cool i have a couple of angels but none like yours. Good Trade between tetras and angel!

Sand is harder to clean than gravel. And wouldn't changing substrate uproot some of your plants?

your tank looks great!!!

if you switch to sand, make sure to get a nylon stocking and put the old gravel in it to put in the tank for a while. removing it all at the same time could send you into a mini-cycle.

i changed to sand today i think it looks better, and the fish seem ALOT happier. have left a stocking full of gravel in the tank (thanks agabr123). I will go out to my LFS next weekend (hopefully) to get some smaller plants to go in the foreground and driftwood that i can stand on end so the tank dosent look so empty at the top.

i will post pics as soon as the water clears up, it may be tonight as it is going very quickly. I will also do a water change and gravel (now sand )vac tomorrow.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone, i hope you think the sand looks better too

Your tank looks really nice. don't worry about the top looking empty, it won't look empty once the plants grow in more.

Hi again everyone

went to the LFS today and bought some Anubias nana for the foreground.
was faced with a tough descision, Another Angel or a Gold Nugget pleco

i chose the angel and here he is
Click the image to open in full size.

he's quite small, only about 1.5 inches (2" including tail) the only worries so far are the chasing by the Angel that was already in there, he is about 2" body size. there has been no fin niping though so i guess he is just saying "im the boss"

Heres the Anubias nana
