Jack Dempsey Photos

Please use this topic to post your Jack Dempsey photos. I'll leave it stickied so it appears at the top of the posts.

Thanks,
Mike

While your compliments on the photos are really appreciated, text-only posts will be removed after a while to keep the gallery pictures-only. If there is a discussion you do not want to loose, please start it again in a separate thread.

Thanks,
Armadillo

I'll start

Here is a picture of my male JD @ about a year old and 6".His name is Leviathan and is absolutely the ruler of my 125.

Here are two pics of my juvenile Electric Blue Jack Dempsey's. Both are about 4 months old and 2". Currently in my 29 gallon with a catfish.

Here's a picture of my blue jack dempsey. He's just a juvenile but I got rid of him before he matured.

She is doing great~ She comes to the glass and follows my finger along.. lol... too funny. They are eating right now and I will try and get a new photo of her. Funny how she is not shy of me, but once that camera shows up.. they hide from it. But I will go and see if I can get a photo of her and post it here.

they mature faster in a big tank and coloring has to do with several factors.
first the younger the fish the less color.
make them happy, give them something to hide in to calm there nerves.
do water changes religiously every week at least 25%.
males have more color than females.
i keep all my tanks at 78 degrees.
but anywhere from 76 to 80 i think should be fine.

mine seem to change colors sometimes if they get scared.
for instance i had 1 female in a 55gal that had a scean on the back i decided to change it one day and when i removed it she totaly changed from her dark color to almost white instantly.
not sure if i answered you question.
anyone else want to pitch in??
