Breeding EBJD

As I said in another thread, I am trying to make back some $$ that I'm spending on this hobby.
It seems that all the rage right now is EBJD's. My question is this:
To get this trait, should I invest in a trio of young EBJD's ($100 +), or I see a lot of sales on Aquabid.com for BLUE GENE JD's. But with Blue Gene, only about 25% of my spawn will be EB, correct?

Here's what I am talking about:
Blue Gene sale

Or would it be better to buy all EBJD's?

If you want to breed EBJD's you will need EBJD not related to each other or a EBJD and a BGJD again unrelated.

The EBJDs have a very weak gene and usually dye as day old fry.

We are breeding EBJDs at the moment and are breeding 2 unrelated BGJD;s together and keeping the 25% EBJDs it will produce the rest will be 50% BGJD and 25% JD these we will be culling as there is no way to tell them apart. Once the EBJDs are old enough to breed they will be bred to regular JD's to produce BGJDs to strengthen the gene pool before being bred to unrelated BGJD/EBJD.

The survival rate is very poor for EBJD due to the fragile nature of the gene's. If you do want to seriously breed these fish you WILL have to cull, they have a lot of problems including beak mouth amongst others. If you can't face culling any fish DO NOT breed them, there are enough people out there that do not and a selling unhealthy fish and weakening the gene pool further.

Here is a website i would advise you look at and read all that you can.

Good luck if you decide to breed them. (If you want more info PM me)

Anna, thank you for the info.
As far as culling, one if my LFS uses fry as live food, so I could supply them.
I would also feel more comfortable buying from someone I know I could trust, so when you have so good size EBJD's, let me know. My LFS sells EBJD's also, so I could get the unrelated partner there.
