Got a tank, came with fish

Earlier this week I posted that I got two (used) tanks over the weekend. I've since found out that the tank I thought was a 29g is a 37g. The other tank is a 38g. Anyway, gave Oscar to a fish store guy who loves Oscars, kept the two Africans (put them in my African tank). Now I have left these two Jack Dempseys, one in each tank (37g and 38g). I've read just about everything I can on JDs but am still not sure of the sex of these two. Also, not sure if they are quite full grown or not. I have attached pictures of the two hoping someone can help with ID. The smaller of the two is about 6 inches long. The other one is about 7 inches long.

Thanks so much for the prompt response. How can you tell? Some information I've read says about longer, more pointed dorsal and anal fins, but I don't really have a comparison. Are there any real distinct differences between males and females? Also do you think these fish are full grown? Also, if they are both female, can they be put in a larage tank together or are they better by themselves.

usually males have more speckles and color on the body and less around the gill plate and face area...females have less color on the bodies and a ton on her gill plates...both of mine have the same finnage and I have a m/f combo

Beautiful fish. I think they have reached maturity but they are not fully grown.

Male and Female

After all your help and referencing me to good sites for information, I feel fairly certain that I have a male and a female. Is it possible to put these two fish together or are they too mature to be able to get along? I'm not sure if more mature fish can become mates or if the need to be introduced when they are small.
