Hi Nick,
Congrats... I hope that the JD looks good and will find a new home in your tank. Best of luck!

Thanks! I'll post a pic once he's in the tank! It would have been easier trying to get an Elephant than a JD I think! Probably cheaper too!

Thats a shame... Well at least the JD is a hardy fish compared to the EBJD and even cheaper yet.
Did the shop owner say how old the JD is?

It's about 6cm so still a Juvie, so it should be Ok in the Cichlid tank. The Convicts in there are only 3cm and the Oscar doesn't bother them. As for cheaper, it's still costing me $55 plus shipping!

That's crazy and one expensive fish. You truly must love the hobby. I can drive 5 minutes and get a jd for $2.99. If I ever get to New Zealand I'm bringing my whole spawn to hook you up. That could be awhile though. Best of luck.

Well he's here at last, in seemingly good health! He got quite a boisterous reception from the other guys in the tank and has found himself a cave for now. I think he should be fine though, as he's bigger than the Convicts and Acara, and the same size as the Jewels. Brute checked him out for a little bit but left him alone. I'll post a pic once he's settled in.

It's a bit blurry but here he is! And my dominant Jewel who coloured up as soon as the JD arrived. Why are you in my tank?

Yeah I'm quite happy with him! Thats it for the Cichlid tank now, fully stocked! Unless I can get an Electric Blue JD, then I'd find room, but theres not much chance of that happening. It took 5 months to find this one!

Hi NG...
Great looking JD! Watch your convicts tho, they can be pretty mean, the one I have in my tank wont leave the JDs alone.. grr... If my convict keeps it up she will find herself in a 10g tank by herself! lol..
The jewels can be pretty mean as well, as I found out and had to return them. I hope that all your fish will get along and I wish you the best with them.

Well he's out and about and seems happy. The Dominant Jewel keeps trying to have a go at him, but everytime he does the Oscar chases the Jewel away! The Dempsey is sticking close to the Oscar, which none of the others ever have, and the Oscar seems quite protective of him!
