Ok as some of you might know I have a male Jack Dempsey, he is in a 55gal with one blue 3 spot gourami, 2 blood parrots, a pleco, and a pictus catfish. I just recently gave my 6 glow light tetras and the last 2 glo fish to my sister seeing as how I think Jake found them to be a great snack. He only ate the glo fish not the tetras So what I am asking is anybody got any suggestions as to what to put in there with him for tank mates. I was thinking some convicts or another type of cichlid, he isnt very aggressive at all which is a plus. He has just recently gotten very attached to my gourami I think he's in love

I really wouldn't add anything else to a 55 gal. with a JD & gouramis.

well there is only the one gourami in there, and i know i need to at least get one more pictus cat, didnt know they need to have buddies when i bought him.

thats what i was thinking too...oh well i guess it's just that my tank looks empty with the tetras and the glo-fish gone.

If your looking for activity why not try giant danios. Get 3 or 4 to fill in the middle /top of your tank. Make sure your top is covered as they like to jump. IMO if do regular water changes and have decent filtration then you could add a couple more fish. Keeping growth in mind your choices will be limited.
