My EBJD has had a swollen belly now for a couple of days. Do I need to treat for clout, OR is this Jacqueline?

hmmm if i had to guess, id say you have a jack...they say the females dont have the spackles and color under the belly..its more just a grayish or black...maybe this link will help ya more..theres pics of both here...goodluck http://www.worldcichlids.com/fishprofiles/jd.html

So since you think this one is male......what should I do to treat for a swollen abdomen? He is swollen and looks like he is about to pop

Well you have a female. Looks like bloat to me. Has she been eating? Epsom salt may help. If she's eating then peas may also. Do a search and you'll find plenty. Holding eggs? Looks to large and I don't know if she has a mate. Mine never get that big.

I'm curious. You say EBJD. Looks like a very colorful regular jack dempsey. I have seen juvenile blues grow up and look very similar to regular jacks.

Hopefully she's doing better.

since I have had to do a lot of research on JD's and looked at LOTS of photos and had read many posts in a cichlid forum, I can say that you have a female JD there. Whether it is an EBJD is hard to tell. It could be a mix...
