One thing about feeder goldfish is that they are kept in terrible conditions, and they might have actually just died from the shock of being moved into the cleaner water. On top of this, they have nearly no nutritional value, so they aren't very good to use as a sole source of food for your fish. Most would do better to be taught to eat things like worms or pre-deadified food, like bits of raw fish.
Still, not necessarily a bad idea to strip the tank and start over, but don't forget that the tank will be un-cycled unless you've kept the filter media wet. If you use the same filter media, and if it never dried out, your fish will probably be fine. |
