Please Help Me Fast My Shark Has A Hole

Hey there if anyone can help me please im in dire need of assistance, Earlier this past month i realized my shark has gotten a huge belly, its white and was massive i just thought he was eating a lot..and earlier last week i noticed like..flakes stuck to him i thought it was just food so i ignored it..then a few days pass and i noticed the small amount of flakes turned into a whole set it looked like a feather pillow that had feathers sticking out it was almost the same size as his head (i figure its fat) and now that its all gone i see a perfect hole on his side...right where his gil is..i can see his gil move when he breathes..i can see perfectly into his stomach its a perfect hole..whats wrong with him? i dont know what to do...he has a little bit of energy not as much as usually..and he looks SO Skinny now..he lost a lot of weight im assuming that all the stuff hanging on his side was his fat..and somehow it got out of him..its a perfect circle on his side almost looks like someone took a holepuncher and landed one in him i feel so bad for him...if all i can do is wait...does anybody think he has a chance of survival? or should i put him out of this misery..cus it kills me to see him so sick.. please reply

Hi welcome to FishLore

I'm really sorry your shark isn't going well.
If you could fill in your aquarium info (Found under My Settings at the top left)

What kind of shark?
How many gallons is the tank?
Any tank mates? If so what kind and how many?
When did you start the tank?
What are the readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
Can you post a picture?

Sorry for all the questions but knowing this information might help the members help you.
Best of luck.

Welcome to fishlore. I agree with lucy. It'll be helpful knowing the readings. When was the last time you did a water change? Frequent water change may help reduce many diseases in fish.

Hello Mike and Welcome to Fish Lore. Here is a link that you may find helpful in diagnosing your shark. It has some "GRAPHIC" photos of fish disease so prepare yourself:
JBL - Online Hospital
Best of luck to you both. Keep us posted. As requested it would be a great help if you can fill out your aquarium information.

Sounds to me like your ID shark has columnaris, a bacterial infection that starts off looking like a cottony growth and then progesses to open lesions on the fish. ID sharks are susceptible to this and its highly contagious. If u still have ur fish u will need to do water changes and treat the fish w antibiotics. I hope i didnt reply too late!!!!!
