Thanks! It's too bad you can't keep bees anymore. I use gloves and a jacket veil thing whatever it's called, not a full suit. The only time I've really had problems with stinging was when I almost dropped a frame (knocking off a lot of bees and the queen) and when I was painting too close to the hive. I suppose everyone does something stupid when starting a new hobby. I like to wear the veil because bees tend to get stuck in my long thick hair. They get a little cranky when they're stuck in my hair. It can be a little distracting when you are trying to work and you have a bee buzzing around your eye, or nose, or mouth, or ear, as I'm sure you well know. I'll probably eventually stop wearing the veil. I think I'll also get rid of the gloves soon as well. They're so clumsy to work in. I think that's why I dropped my frame. Anyway, as for right now, I'm a big chicken. The veil and gloves are kind of like a security blanket, so to speak.

oh yes...when checking the supers you dont want to hurt any!! My dog knocked over our hive once!!! awful!! Took over an hour to get out of the house and get the hive set back up.
Most interesting to me was that the workers work themselves to death. Their wings get tattered and torn until they cant get home. I used sit next to the hive and watch them crash land!!!! Some could only make it part way back and crah in the grass.

Maybe braid your hair? or do a French braid so there is less space for them to get tangled in it? Ive had a carpenter bee get stuck in my hair...freaky.
