Are these things bad?

I just put in a refugium (with own lighting) and new CFL 50/50 (10,000K/Actinic 03 blue) light fixture on the main tank. These things showed up a week later. They seem to be growing exponentially. The only thing added to the tank was a green tip anemone, a couple of snails and the "mud" for the refugium. ammonia and nitrite is 0, nitrate 30 to 40, pH 8.2, temp is 78, SG 1.020. Tank is approximately 1 year old.

From the pic it kind of looks like aplastia? Can you get a more clear pic? if thats what it is a peppermint shrimp will take care of the problem, or inject them with lemon juice.
Here is a link that has common hitchhikers good and bad:

cant really see not a good pic but your nitrates are very high and your sg could do with being a bit higher 1.025 , nitrates should be lower then 10

Additional pics and info

Here are some more pics, hopefully they will be more helpful.
Also, I read the article on aiptasia and they definitely do not retract into the rock when touched. Also, nothing in the tank seems to be bothered by them. I'm wondering if it is something in a larval type stage? I pulled out an old marine biology book and thought that they look sort of like a peanut type worm.

It is not dead. It's population has boomed over the past week or so (since I put in the new lighting). It is not hard. The fuzziness that comes across in the pictures is also there (somewhat) in person. Again, it doesn't seem to be bothering any other creatures, nor does it seemed to be bugged by any of them.
Coral is an interesting guess. Does it start off soft?
