Help!!!! All of a sudden I have found a wad of what looks like angel hair pasta! It just popped up - around the top of my 34 gallon saltwater tank. I have added a Sea Hare about a month ago, and then this popped up. I peeled it off and threw it away, it was not alive. But then the next day another wad popped up, and it looked like maybe the hare was trying to eat it, or it came from the sea hare's body! Don't know - any help identifying this would help!! (I'm about a 1 year new marine aquarist).

Ok, without the picture, does anyone have a clue what it could be It looks just like a little wad of white pasta - it is all together up near the top of the water, attached to the side. I've peeled it out again, and it does not move or anything, and it has the texture of stiff thin pasta. (not hard, just stiff)

Ok......so now I come home, and the sea hare looks like he has a growth coming out of his head!! It has a big bubble, and a reddish looking thing protruding from the top! It is really gross!!! What is happening?!?!?

Try resizing your pics first to under 500kb (link to resize pics is in the post that shows you how to attach pics). Then try to post a picture. Hard to guess without a pic. The only thing that comes to mind right now that resembles angel hair past to me is chaetomorpha but it is green.

caulpera goes white when it goes sexual and it also lets toxins back in to the tank ,,,
as for the sea hare with its lump i know some fish with ammonia get lumps come up do a water test and post up parameters and lets get water quality out of the way ,, ,, when i get my laptop back(wife taken it to work) i will check on a few possible reasons as this contains all my stuff for marine ,books ,sites,logs for my tank. ect
