Help ID please

I was watching my 10g nano tonight and noticed a small brown and white banded worm like thing come poking out of the rock occasionally. It wouldn't have me so worried except that it is freaking out my mushroom. It never comes completely out of the rock but it sure is feeling up the mushroom, which has managed to completely curl up on itself now.

Could it be the leg of a star fish? Its hard to go by that description. Is it like large bands or small bands? Zebra like or larger bands/stripes?

I was thinking originally it might have been a mini brittle star as they tend to hide out in the LR and almost never come out. But this doesn't behave like a brittle star leg. More like a peanut worm, but it looks nothing like the photos i've seen of peanut worms. So, it's a worm of some type that appears to filter feed, never leaves the rock, and i've typically seen it actually picking at the coralline algae on the rock. Only comes out at night.

Small bands.

Definitely not a bristle worm. I'd get a picture if I could but it only comes out at night and my camera doesn't do dark at all.

It may be a peanut worm! I have one living in one of my rocks. When lights are off you can see stretch out into the sand, but never comes totally out of the rock. As soon as you turn the lights on he shoots back in.
