Poling

I recently set up my tank about 5 weeks ago and used live rock. We love this rock, we are finding all sorts of plants growing and a little crab has shown its self that we did not know we had. However, a worm looking thing has also emerged. It looks like a rather large earth worm, brown in colour with a sort of dark ring pattern. It kind of extends like a telescope and has very very tiny hair looking things at the end (not particularly pretty). I do not know the overall length as it is always coming out of a rock and I never see the tail end. It goes from rock to rock and quickly dissapears if anything swims close by. Is it dangerous and should I try to get it out, although I am not sure how as all my rock is now firming stuck in. I have only seen it a couple of times, but it is worrying me

I am not an expert on marine species, but that sounds a lot like a filter feeder. The hair looking things at the end are probably used to filter little bits out of the water around it. Because it disappears when things swim by, I doubt that it's a danger.

Has it got lots of legs like a centipede or does it live in a tube? If its got the legs and hair it could be a bristleworm. I cannot decide if they're good or bad.. I have read so many conflicting reports on them but i have got some in my tank and they have not caused any problems!

i recently started a fishtank with live breeders. i noticed a bright yellow centipede looking worm about 1/2 inch a few days ago. today i have two. does anyone know what it is?
