Well, I'm not that familier with African cichlids.
But why do you want to create a hybrid?? It's generally frowned upon, as many who breed try to keep strains pure. What do you plan on doing with the fry, as they will not be a pure strain?

I'm with Amanda here. I'm a little lost because if you plan on breeding them to sell it would be really hard since you have to have a pure breed to get a good fish.

They most likely will not be sterile, this being another problem. There's a chance they'll continue breeding, which can cause even more problems.

Really cross breeding species is a personal choice. Most people who breed Africans prefer to keep the them pure so the blood lines dont get muddied up. It really comes down to a personal choice and what your comfortable with. All we can do is give you information about it. African's in the wild do not cross breed. Only when they are in the aquarium without the proper male female ratio do they begin to cross breed. It can cause problems if someone else breeds the offspring with another fish. You end up not knowing what kind of fish it is. Diet, water, and compatibility all become effected. If you do want to do this you need to do it responsibly. Let people know that's it's a hybrid and let them know what fish the parents are. They might be ugly and noone will want them and you'll be stuck with upward of 300 fish. You wont' be able to keep all of them, plus the parents will keep breeding. I personally would not recommend it but it is your choice.

On a different note...Welcome to Fishlore ...We'd love to see some pics of your tanks and fish. Hope you enjoy it here there are a ton of knowledgeable people and great info.

Good luck.. electric blues are hap species and not mbuna, if they do create a hybrid (the lab and electirc blue I would be very surprised. The only cross peacock/hap/mbuna would be a hap and peacock. Only an accidental hybrid incident would be able to happen (ie a pair of labs breeding and pair of haps at the same area of the tank at the same time where the you know what would get crossed, a 1:10000 chance).
