I would think Mike (the owner) probably has something set up to delete inactive members after a while. I'm sure one of the moderators will let him know. Hate to hear you're leaving!
As Lucy said, normally someone would just not show up at the forum anymore (this is true for all of the different forums I've been part of).
In general, "canceled memberships" are reserved for those who have seriously and/or repeatedly breached forum rules (and are called "bannings" ). However, I doubt that Mike will have a problem with removing an account if asked. I'll bring his attention to this thread.
