How Do I: Enable the Standard or WYSIWYG Editor

Go into "My Settings" and then click on "Edit Options" then scroll to the bottom of the page. Under Misc. Options is the drop down box for the message editor interface. Select the Standard or WYSIWYG editor in order to get the helpful posting buttons and smilies. Then click the "Save Changes" button at bottom.
