Heater Review

Has anyone had any experience with the Penn Plax Guardian Heater's? KensFish.com has them on sale for $12.95 and $13.95 depending on size. They are fully submersible and are not the typical (breakable) glass tube. I am thinking of buying some as I am in need of some heaters right now and didn't like the idea of spending $30+ for heaters.

Thanks

Hello Idbrown.
I've never used the type of heater mentioned. Hopefully you'll get some responses today.

I do suggest that you get the best type of heater that you can possibly afford. This is one item in the hobby that I don't like to go the cheaper route.
See if these prices fit into your budget:

I purchased 5 of the Penn Plax Guardian heaters and after 1 month of use I can give them an B+ rating. They are well built, very rugged and maintain temp. They do not have a temp dial like more expensive models so temp setting is trial and error. They are large (hard to hide) for their rated watts, I guess that is the downside of rugged. Overall, at $approx $12.00 per 150 watt heater they are a good buy.
