Stealths

For a 29 gallon tank, which is best to get when it comes to stealths?

100W - 10 in. - up to 30 Gallon
or the
150W - 13 3/4 in. - up to 45 Gallon

to be honest I'm really afraid of coming home to see my fish all fried out, from what I've read and such it just sounds awful I don't wanna get anything that'll be too much for it. Any tips I should know when it comes to having a heater?

I think I have a 100 or a 150 watt in a 10g. Anyway it's doing fine and keeping my fishy's warm throughout the cold weather FYI make sure you get an accurate thermometer or at least have two to check if either one is not giving accurate results. Btw what's the price difference?

It depends on what temp you keep your house at and what temp you want to keep the tank at. The greater the difference, the more powerful the heater you need. If there is a 20 degree difference, a 150 would be a better choice. IMO it's always best to go with more than less when it comes to heaters and filters. The extra watage is only going to heat the water faster, maintaning a steadier temp.

The price difference on that particular website is like 5 bucks or so. And my apartment fluctuates from 68 - 75 degrees for some reason? So I think maybe I should go with the 150w just in case. The two thermometers is a good idea, does it matter if its digital or a stick on one?

Big als and that pet place both sell stealths for the cheapest I've been able to find. AND, there isn't really a price difference between most sizes.

I would go with both to check if they give diff. readings.

I think this is the cheapest as far as cost of item + shipping.

Thanks for all the speedy replies, I'll get the 150w and try out the 2 therm.

I've got a 200W in my 30g.
PetMountain (link at the top of the page) has the best price and I think they're on sale now too!

Good morning. I would go with the 150w as well. You don't want to go the cheap route as far as your heating is concerned. I know we all need to save a buck these days. I like the Visi Therm Stealth Heaters myself.
Best of luck and have a great weekend!
