Heater problem flexuating my water temp!

Hello.

My water heater that I have in my 29 gallon and 10 gallon aquarium are the only heaters that are heating or not heating my water very much.

I don't know what is wrong with my heater! I turned it down to the lowest and it's still heating!! it turns on for about 10 seconds and then turns off for 20 seconds and then turns back on! it's so annoying! and I just bought in new baby angelfishes.

Now, I have to keep my lid open so then the extra heat gets out of the aquarium! now the water is at 35ºC!! I can't get it any lower than that! I don't know what is wrong. My 10 gallon aquarium is at 76ºF and my other tanks are doing fine. I don't know what is happening. There is nothing wrong with the voltage or the power source. Maybe it could be the heater itself??

I don't want to buy a new heater all the time. I replaced my old water heater in my 10 gallon tank, and my new tank came with the water heater. My friend sent it to me from North America and it is able to be used in Lima here. So I don't know. It worked for the first year and then now it's just going crazy, I don't want my new baby angels to die!! they are very strong and healthy and all of my other fishes are fine. No signs of stress. My water parameters are all in good condition. ammonia is definitely at 0.

please help me!

Oh, I'm so sorry.
You might have a faulty heater.
What wattage is it? Is this in your 29g?

Hello Neji. I agree with the above...I think you may need a new heater. I too use the Stealth heaters. Here is an example of the one's I have in the link below:

If you have the means, it's always nice to have a spare heater just for this type of occasion.
Best of luck. Your Angels sound wonderful!

The heater probably has moisture inside it. Turn it off for awhile & let the tank cool down. After it gets back toward a more normal temperature, hook it up to a timer until you get a new heater. On for an hour off for an hour on for an hour and so on. That will keep your fish alive until you can replace the heater.

I would do that, but that would cause my water to fluxuate too much. And that would probably stress my fish out.

I believe it is a 30 watt heater, for my 29 gallon.

Alright. So what are stealth heaters anyway? Do they even last long?

100 watts are needed for a 29 gallon. 30 watts isn't enough for a 10, unless you live in the tropics.

When I said they were cheapest, I meant between retailers, not between brands. http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/11432/product.web
