heaters?

I have 2 50 watt heaters in my 55 gal. right now, but will be moving one to a fry tank shortly and will need a replacement. Any suggestions on size and/or brand?

I use visi-therm stealth heaters by marineland. They're fully submersible, unbreakbale nad has an auto shut off.
According to the package a 200W is recommended for up to 55g's so I'd go a little higher wattage.

100-150watt will be fine.
Like everything in life if you buy a cheap one you MAY have problems.
I prefer ebo-jager heaters and a 100watt one here would be around $35-40.

I like Stealths and Ebo Jagers. I would choose a 200W or 250W of either brand. If your house gets cold in the wintertime go for the 250W, but seeing as how you're in TX that probably won't be an issue.

Yeah, i had a tank with no heater before and even in winter the water never dropped below about 70 degrees.

Hello. Visi Therm Stealth Heaters is what I recommend and use in all tanks. I would at least go with 150w.

Something I will add.

You hear from time to time about peoples heaters malfunctioning and getting stuck on, if they get stuck in the off position no biggie to me. When they get stuck on they will heat up a tank and fry the fish.
Because of this possibility I always use the smallest possible heater, that way if something does happen I have longer to notice as it will take longer to heat the water with a smaller heater. Ys they run more but that is why I suggested a lower watt heater than most. The chances are very slim for this happening, but it is just something I have always done.

Just got back from Petsmart. I saw the stealth heater but the only jager heaters i saw were eheim not ebo, is it the same? Also i saw marineland visi-therm deluxe submersible heaters, has any one heard of or used these?

Yes. Eheim bought Ebo Jager a few years back. They are the same.
