Placing order: need some help w/ heater size

I'm placing an order with DFS and was debating between a 50w and a 75w stealth for my 10 gallon Q-tank. I was thinking that in a Q-Tank, prehaps the 75w would help hold a more stable temp. Then again, a 10 gal. isn't very big, so would a 50w be plenty? Or, would the 75w help hold a more stable temp. for sick fish? Both the 50 and 75w are the same price.

I'll also be ordering a heater for my 20L. I would kind of like to retain the ability to place the heater both vertically or horizontally ... thus, the 100w (10") would be the tallest that could fit vertically as the tank is 12" tall. However, if I would be better served by additional wattage ... I'd go with the 150w.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I have 2 10g's One has a 50W stealth, the other a 75W stealth. Both maintain the tank at a consistant temp.
If they're the same price, I'd go with the 75W.

Edit: Did you check out petmountain.com? Their prices are lower. I've never ordered from them, but petsmart matched their heater prices for me.

Thanks Lucy.

Any advice on the 20L? Would the 100w be plenty ... or might I be better served by the 150w?

20 liter or 20 gallon? for a 20 liter you'd only need 25 watts or so, for a 20 gallon i'd go with 100w marineland visitherm stealth

I'd probably bump that up to 150W.
I just bought 200W for my 30's

It was Alex who pointed me to petmountain.

agabr123, it's 20 gallon. My apologies ... the L = long. Certainly would've helped if I would have included that, lol.

Lucy, I was leaning towards the higher wattage for both. My only hesitation in doing so is that with the 20 gallon I would lose the option of placing the 150 watt vertically (as well as horizontally) ... as it's 13+ inches long and the tank is 12" tall. The main reason I want the increased wattage in the Q-tank is that there would seemingly be even less margin for error concerning temp fluctuations give an ill fish.

i currently have a 50w in my 10g. its perfect and keeps the temp stable, never seen it move. 50w would do fine, but if they are the same price i'd get the 75w. purely because you'd rather it to be a bit overpowered than under. as with the 20g, i'd say 100w would do, but your probably better off with a 150w. i know a 20g doesn't have acres of space but you could go with 2X75w? not sure it would look the best, but atleast it would fit. lol!! goodluck with your choice.
cheers

May I suggest that you have a back up heater as well? If one quits working you have a spare.
