hello i think i have heater problem. ive had the heater at 81 degrees for 4 days now and the thermometer is still at around 78ish. Also i tried to turn the heater up for a sec to see if it even works and the light came on and i heard a click. The brand is a penn plax. Should i return it and get a better one or is this a defect or what? Ty

How is the visitherm marineland heater compare to this junk heater its only a 2 dollar difference?

I like the visi-therm stealth heater. It's fully submersible, unbreakable and guaranteed for life.
The one draw back is it doesn't have an indicator light.

Some heaters are a few degrees off, you may have to set the temp higher to get the actual temp you want.

I also have three of the visi therm heaters and love them. The one that came with our used 90 gallons is only a 200 watt, I know I need a bigger one or even two for the tank size, but it still keeps the whole tank at 78.

The first heater that we had came with our 20 gallon kit and made a clicking noise every time it turned on, so we got a visi therm to replace it and have never had any problems. I think they are worth the extra money.

Im gonna go with the visi therm stealth the pet store by me has it for 17.00 same as this junk one i have now. Im gonna return this old one for my money back.

i also got the API super ick cure so ill use the heater and ick cure together once i get the new heater

What size is it? I paid 17 for my 50 watt at petsmart back when their online price was better than the one in the store, so I got it for the online price. They are now 32 and we paid 35 for the 100 watt. It is well worth the 17 in my opinion.

itzs a 150 watt and up to like 45 gals. also i got api super ick cure have you ever used tehre ick meds.

We used Quick cure once and it turned all the tubbing and sealant blue. I have read on here that you can just turn the temp up for a while and that will kill off the ick, but I'm not sure right now what the temp is, I think its in the lower 80's. I'm also not sure if that temp will be ok for all fish.

im going tl get the heater and use the super ick cure and hope i save the fish its getting bad now and i have to get the heater tomorow. i want to use both at the same time.
