I have 2 125g each has a single 300w heater.
One of the tank is a river set up so the water is constantly moving. The other the heater is set up under a filter outflow so the water get warms as it moving. That heater is about 3" from one end of the tank, and the tank stays at 80f all the time from the one heater.
You don't need two 300w heaters, you could probably get away with 2 heaters for up to 75g if you want to put more than one heater in (heaters are the most expensive things to run in a tank for energy consumption).
I would just put one heater in by the filter intake or outtake so the water moving from the filter will spread around the tank and heat the water up evenly.
In lots of articles i have read, the larger tanks with sumps usually only keep the heater in the
sump and use the water movement to keep the main tank at a steady temperature (how i got the idea to place the heater under the filters and power heads)
This is my

lots of experienced people have said use two heaters.
