Re: water heater

Well that depends entirely on the type of fish your keeping. If they are tropical and need a constant tropical temperature then yes you need one.

Re: water heater

freshwater fish can also be tropical...like the fish you'd find in South American and Asian rivers. What kind do you have?

Re: water heater

Most fish folks have in their tanks (including bettas) are tropical fish. They will need a heater in their tank. Goldfish and white cloud minnows are 2 examples of non-tropical fish, and would not require a heater.

Re: water heater

Yes, depending on what type of fish you have, you may or may not need a heater.

I personally have a 10 gallon tank and have a heater in it. It wasn't all that expensive for a good quality one, about $20-$25 I believe. You can get ones even cheaper if you like, but my personal opinion is, the more you spend now the less you will spend later replacing the thing when it breaks down.
