Heater in plastic tank

I am setting up a quarantine/hospital tank for tropical fish and only want a plastic one instead of glass because it is cheaper and easier to store when not in use.

The pet shop told me I shouldn't use a heater in plastic tanks. Is this true? The heater would only be on at about 25C and it would only be used to quarantine new or ill fish temporarily.

You're talking about one of the Kritter Keepers, not an acrylic tank, right? How big is it? The amount of water in it may be a relevant detail.

Yes I've seen reptile or fauna boxes that I thought would be ok.

Prob between 10 and 20 litres.

I'd also get a small corner box air filter.

The 20L (about 5 gallons US) should be big enough to handle a small 25 watt Visi-Therm Stealth, but I'm still a bit new to this, and don't know if even that heater (which is the most highly recommended) would be safe with the plastic...that's the heater they'll suggest, if they suggest one at all, though.

Take my opinion for what it is, an opinion based on information I've seen others post...and wait for someone who has been around a bit longer to confirm or deny what I've said. I don't want anyone taking my suggestions as "expert" advice.

We've used a 25w heater in one of those kritter keeper tanks before. As long as the heater itself isn't touching the plastic, it should be fine.
