75g heating

Well, as I figured the heater that came with the 75g isn't going to do. It has some condensation inside and the holder is actually melted to the glass (Used - can't complain, I wasn't worried about the heater in the deal - just the tank, stand, lid/lights and filter hehe.)

Just a quick question - for a 75g I'm going to want to go with two of the Visi-therm 200watt heaters, correct? I currently use mostly TopFin and haven't had any troubles with them but I know I've just been lucky so far so its a good time to get the heaters right ^^;

A couple Visitherms sound good. 200W each is more than enough for a 75g and should keep the warm up to temp.

Alrightly, thank you very much. I wasn't sure if it might end up being over kill or something. I know a lot of people use two heaters but I never paid enough attention to notice the wattage heh.

i use ONE 200watt visitherm heater in my 75g aquarium. Temperature is maintained 15F above ambient (Tank is around 77F, ambient is about 62F), and pretty evenly throughout the whole tank. You can save your money and just get one.

With 2, you probably would have to set the dials really low and it sounds like 1 does the trick. I would still recommend ordering 2 so you have a backup.

I'm too impatient to order them online and since getting into fishkeeping I've found I have a problem shopping. I'm not a shopper, I hate going to the store or buying anything unless its books or music but I just can't stop myself so I'm constantly looking around online stores. Thankfully I noticed the price differant between DFS and Petsmart isn't that much and actually, with shipping Petsmart is cheaper (I order from both and have no problem supporting Petsmart based on how the people at my local one not only treat their customers but also their livestock). It took a few tries to get the right page printed out since Petsmart will honor their online prices but I finally got the two heaters (online the 200watts are $19.99 - in store $34.99 )

I'm going to try and hope one will do the trick, one less plug means one more plug I can use (why stop with 3 lunar lights when I can have 6!) And if one does work at least I already have a heater for my next set up ^_~

Check the prices at petmountain and thatpetplace too. I've found them to be cheaper a lot of times than DFS. It's funny how Petsmart is cheaper online and that's a price worth going for.

Thanks - I like when people recommend sites. The more people who recommend the better I feel about ordering from them (well, I guess its more of a quality thing - its not just the prices that are important its if the stuff actually works too).

I thought it was just going to be a few dollars differance but now I remember why I didn't buy the heater the first time around before I knew about online honoring.

omg they do that? Do you just take it up to the cashier? The online prices are awesome, the in-store prices not so much. I already have most of my equipment, but you never know when an upgrade is headed your way.

Yup - just make sure it lists the exact product and the exact price. What pops up when it says "prit this page" wont be accepted if it doesn't give the details but if you put it in your cart and print that page it'll work. Should anyways - the cashier will have to call for either a manager or head cashier (they need a key to put in it).
