Hagen Elite Radiant 75w

A few days ago my Mom picked me up one of these heaters for my 5 gallon tank. I'm a little bit skepitcal on using it though because I think the wattage is a bit high for my tank size. Am I wrong?
And has anyone used one of these heaters before? Any problems?

Hagen makes good heaters, but 75w is pretty high for 5g.

Thanks for the advice. I returned the heater and hope to get a smaller one thats fits easier.
