HUGE Problem
I purchased a new heater yesterday and put it in my tank. Unfortunately, the glass was too cold from being outside that the glass tube cracked. Is there any way to fix this or what should I do?

Pete is right. You should trash that one and learn from the mistake. Glass doesn't like sudden temperature changes.
If the heater is cold to the touch when you get it home let it sit in the room for an hour, then let it sit in the tank for 15 minutes, atleast, before you set the temperature and plug it in.
It is best to keep in mind that very few materials like sudden temperature changes.

I did that one time when I didn't think to turn off the heater when I did a water change. The heater was out of the water 1/2 way, and when I added new water, even though it was about 75, the heater was way hotter, and it cracked! Now I unplug them when I do water changes. Live and learn. It happens to all of us!

lol, I feel your pain...as far as bitter cold. My windchill this fine evening is -12F. Nothing like some soothing wisps of cool air to calm your spirit, eh?

I did that when I was a kid, helping my mum do a major water change/cleanup. The water level was below the bottom of the heater when I unplugged it and brought it over to the sink to wash. Being 8 years old I knew nothing about thermal expansion/shrinkage, and when I turned on the tap the glass - literally - exploded. I'm just lucky I didn't lose an eye...
But yeah, don't try to repair it--not worth the risk. Sorry about your loss though.

haha yeah. Days like today make summer days that much more enjoyable.
(Then you look back in august when it's 95F with 85% humidity and think "man I miss those cold winter nights. lol!)
